progress?

Almost two months and no posts, I assure all more is coming. I have actually been productive and have painted a great deal. 6mm timecast buildings, more Adler Jena Prussians and WWII Germans and Italians (as Hungarians and Slovaks), and helped by the fine folks at the Pendraken forum I finally believe I have a basing system I like for the 10mm 1866 Prussians and Austrians. Thanks to everyone for checking in and reading this blog, it really keeps me going, focused and motivated, and just for fun some 10mm Pendraken SCW figures.

Cold Germans

I have been in a winter mood despite the good weather. Therefore I introduce some Germans and Soviets geared for winter fighting 1941ish. The tanks are  Zvezda (very nice and cheap!!!), gun and crew Peter Pig Russian tank battlefront and the Russians Old Glory and Peter Pig. This is kind of a side project so not sure how far it will progress. The terrain is mostly geared for my 6mm figures but looks okay in 15mm.

Show of force?

Following the political upheaval in Costa Soneblo, and discovery of mineral deposits, the San Bernadinian parliament has stated that they will take any and all steps necessary "to safeguard national interests".

The San Bernadinian army has been in a state of flux following the ouster of the governing junta and the implementation of parliamentary government. Although Parliament as a body is to govern military regulations under the constitution practically local commanders and the United Freedom Party (UFP), have dominated supply to front line units and regional trade rights. Modern influence in dress is starting to be seen in the rank and file however, the  uniform is still very much based on the WWI British model. The soldier pictured is turned out in an older version of the standard uniform. He wears a more rigid style cap than the "field cap"often worn by units serving away from the capital and is pictured with heavy kit often not seen outside the major interior cities (where it is incidentally less needed), due to practicality of climate and logistical problems. Helmets vary and are seldom worn. The white stars on this soldiers color identify him as a member of the interior guards regiment.

Finally an update!!! Sorry about the slowdown unfortunately I have had some family health issues come up and this has somewhat delayed hobby time both emotionally and practically. I was able to pull out some of the 6mm WWII terrain and figures last night and snap a few pictures. The terrain was made of bed sheet pastel colors and fabric. Buildings are a real mix of what I had laying around as are the trees. Infantry all Adler and vehicles GHQ. I believe if you click on the pics they get larger if not you can save them and then view in normal size at least on my PC?

Maneuvers

Shots of El Andostador infantry on maneuvers in the central dry lands. As the majority of infantry are part time reservists these types of mass maneuvers are rare. The majority of the infantry pictured wear the standard infantry uniform supplemented by civilian dress and rare Spanish helmet which is starting to make appearances in the ranks of the infantry.

Following the revolution and military reforms the majority of the infantry has been composed of the "peoples battalions" primarily made up of the small farmers that occupy the grounds around the Grandino river basin. Traditionally apolitical, these farmers in large part have supported the revolution due to the institution of land reform and the breakup of the large estates. While the regime has instituted standard uniform guidelines informality and peasant dress often find their way into the rank and file. The officer pictured is smartly dressed in the standard infantry uniform.

  

Lost my mogo!!!

Well it is gone, or at least left for the last five/six weeks. I was plugging through my lead pile, I was on focus and then nothing. One night became two nights and then my motivation just left. I finally sat down last night and finished a few bags of 10mm Pendraken Russo-Japanese War figures that were in my lead pile. I know it is of track, I wanted to stick with Austro-Prussian 15mm and 6mm WWII, but hey maybe it will get me going again.

The figures themselves paint up very nicely. I asked Leon at Pendraken to include only advancing figures in my Japanese and Russian packs and they very kindly did this for me. If I decide to have more variation in the future I will use WWI Russians and Russo-Turkish War Russians.
